Interesting pair of scissor tongs. Can’t seem to find a maker stamp. Stamped E.P.N.S made in England. EPNS does stand for electro-plated, nickel silver; a process started in the mid to late 1800s.
Sorry, I don’t know the age of these. Interesting though. Measure appx 8” long & they fully open to about 3 1/2” wide. Weight 3.03 oz. They have an intricate swirly type design pretty much all over them. At the end, 1 side is a spoon with fork tines & the other is a regular spoon. I have a feeling they might be used to pick up potatoes, but I could be wrong. They might just be salad tongs? Just not sure on this one!
They do pass the magnet test, even though they are labeled EPNS. Whatever they are, they are definitely interesting and would make a wonderful addition to your silver server collection!
