This figurine is 5.5 tall, it has no cracks, chips, crazing or blemishes, it is in MINT Condition. The trademark (TMK 5 Last Bee) places the manufacture of this Circa 1972 – 1979. Master sculptor Arthur M0eller first designed this piece from one of Sister Maria’s drawings in 1936, known originally as Brother and Sister.
Sister Maria had a love of children and a whimsical nature; she sketched them in various situations. This piece depicts a boy and girl, most likely siblings, who are setting off for a day at the market. What will they purchase? Will they fill their basket? Looking off to the left, something has caught their eye, could it be something for mother?
But WAIT, there is something a little different about this version from many others. Most versions have an empty basket being carried by the girl. However, this version has a wine bottle in the basket. Humm, wonder is that makes it more valuable!
