Modern design clamper-type sterling silver bracelet with a large oval cabochon of silver sheen obsidian (volcanic glass with chatoyancy found mostly in Mexico). Heavy and quite striking, and the cat's-eye effect in the obsidian is really lovely. In excellent vintage condition. The bezel set stone is tightly in place and the silver shows minimal wear with a nice pearly patina. The hinge is very tight -- in fact, I recommend care when putting it on because it does close with a clamp!
♦ Dimensions: Inner circumference is 7 inches (18 cm). Inner dimensions are 2.5 x 1.75 inches (6.4 x 4.4 cm). Widest point in front is 1 3/8 inches (3.4 cm). Back band is .5 inch (1.5 cm). Opens well over an inch. Obsidian is 2.6 x 1.9 cm. Weight is 58.3 grams.
♦ Markings: JQM 925 Mexico TQ-13. Bille Hougart's book mentions TQ-03, but not 13. The registration number indicates this was made after 1980, the T in the number stands for Taxco.
