Handmade by artist Effie Calavaza from sterling silver, coral and turquoise. They have a a total of 8 stones, 4 of which are inlaid to create the snake’s eyes, the other 4 are hand cut bezel set in the midst of the coiled snake designs.
Snakes are found in many healing and fertility rituals. They are also connected with lightning speed & being able to move undetected. Earrings are stamped Sterling Zuni Effie C.
Effie is perhaps one of the most widely recognized Zuni artists. Her wonderful snake motif jewelry is unmistakable, and very sought after by collectors. Effie specializes in sandcasting silver and incorporates large stones. Her snake designs are known as her signature style. She began making jewelry in the mid-1950s.
