well tailored piece of writing, and a setting that has a good deal of glamor, though in its sliding over of any indication of effects of modern problems on Hungarian life, it is not entirely convincing. The virtually feudal domain of the Ehrenfelds in the valley of the Toras is the setting -- the characters are the members of the Ehrenfeld family and the disrupting Aunt Fritzi Horvath, on the make for her spoiled daughter, Margit. The one character that breaks sharply through the cloak is that of the governess, Fraulein Kock, as a sort of dea ex machina, who, however, cannot avert the tragedy of impact of character.
