RARE 1940's Santa Claus produced by Johanna Ceramics, Costa Mesa, California. The company produced their charming ceramic figurines post World War II and into the 1950's. This large Santa is lavishly decorated with the Johanna signature spaghetti or extruded trim. Hand-crafted and hand painted, his suit is painted bright red and the figure is treated to kiln fired 22K gold accents. Signed on the bottom: JOHANNA CALIF. The pottery operated at 1627 Superior Avenue in Costa Mesa, CA and is mentioned in California Pottery Scrapbook II written by Jack Chipman. He will not disappoint...he will brighten the new owner's Christmas in years to come. There are a few minor spots where the red paint is missing, but otherwise excellent condition for being around 80 years old.
Please examine all pictures for full condition as they are part of the description.
