Royal Worcester’s “Polly Put the Kettle On”
Nursery Rhyme Figure 3303
by Freda Doughty c. 1966
This sweet figurine is from the Nursery Rhymes Series issued between 1940 and 1983 by Freda Doughty.
Polly is dressed as a maid with a white dress and rose pink apron that ties at the back with a cute bow. She wears tan slippers with pink bows and a white, ruffled mobcap as she staunchly supports a little kettle, and doing her best not to drop it. Polly has soft, rosy cheeks and bright eyes. A real gem, full of character.
This Polly differs from any other Royal Worcester Polly out there. First, with her base she is 6” tall, where others are 4.5” tall. Finely painted, this version has an open base (later models have a solid base). And Polly holds a white kettle – every other Polly features a metallic kettle.
Type: bone china, handmade, hand painted, porcelain
Condition: Excellent, no damages or crazing to the porcelain, checked with UV light.
