The ceramic tradition on Mantamados Lesvos island Greece has a long history of 5.000 years.Ceramic art is the most ancient form of art that only combines the four principle elements of nature, dirt, water, air and fire. It is about a difficult and time-consuming job that requires knowledge and technique through all the steps; choosing the right clay, cleaning and kneading, drying, decorating the surface and baking. This does have some kitchen wear, and the original sticker is starting to come off but is in great vintage condition. The bottom does have some crazing to it but does not effect the integrity of the craft. It's heavy and very sturdy. This is a stunning peice of art, but I've run out of room for it.
