A quality Herkimer Diamond enhydro crystal. Technically, calling these crystals 'enhydro' is incorrect. While enhydro does means water within, the fluid (usually water) resulted from a crack. More correctly, this is a fluid filled inclusion. The fluid has been present and trapped since the crystal grew, 300 million years ago ! It is very rare to find a Herkimer Diamond that contains a bubble of fluid intact. Most times, the bubble of fluid explodes usually due to temperature changes. Scientists call the quartz with moving bubbles fluid inclusions.
