First American edition, second printing hardcover copy of Run for the Trees by James S. Rand (G.P. Putnam’s Sons, 1967). Rare early copy of the historical fiction novel set in East Africa during the time when colonial white settlers and explorers arrived there to reap the benefits of the land and its peoples. Jacket protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping, creasing and some tears. Boards are straight and clean but with corners bumped and small faded area to top edge of spine. A few instances where binding material is visible in gutters, but spine is straight and binding remains fairly strong on the whole. All pages clean and unmarked though tanned.
