Miles Davis Porgy And Bess Digital Remastered Board - Vinyl Records 1987 remix. repressing of the Jazz maestro's 1958 release. Porgy And Bess was Miles Davis and Gil Evans' second conceptual album (their first conceptual LP was Miles Ahead in 1957). By the time he did this album, Miles had a working sextet with John Coltrane, Julian Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb. Playing mostly flugelhorn and, on a few places, muted trumpet, Miles sounds wonderful on these sides. Evans' arrangements still sound modern and imaginative, and in many cases as mentioned in the original liner notes make clear reference to the play and the lyrics of the songs.
