Wedgwood Wiggins Teape Group Papermakers Butter Dish 1961 Trinket Box 5 long.
This is a very nice piece from Wedgwood. It is a ceramic lidded trinket box, produced in 1961 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the formation of the company which became the Wiggins Teape Group, one of the largest papermakers in Europe. The background is cream, and has brown images of various papermaking activites on the lid and sides. On each end in script is the legend: 'The Wiggins Teape Group Papermakers 1761 - 1961'.
The backstamp is WEDGWOOD of Etruria & Barlaston Made In England (no ® mark, which came into use in 1974). Also on the base is the impressed mark WEDGWOOD and the impressed date mark 3 G 61 (March 1961, the G being the artist's mark).
The box dimensions are approximately 5 x 3.5 x 1.5 inches.
This piece is in very good condition, with no cracks, chips or crazing.
